The swim & dive teams competed in the state meet at the Georgia Tech McAuley Aquatic Center on Saturday, February 9, with the girls finishing in 4th place and the boys 12th.
The highlight of the girls’ night was a state championship in the 200 freestyle relay for Elizabeth Isakson, Anna Heisterberg, Abby Belinski, and Jasmin Hoffman in an All-American consideration time of 1:36.39. Top ten performances included 5th and 6th place finishes by Jasmin Hoffman and Elizabeth Isakson in the 50 freestyle, 6th place for Mary Simon in the 1 meter dive competition, 7th and 10th places for Hoffman and Isakson in the 100 freestyle, and a 10th place finish for Morgan Wimberly in the 500 freestyle. Other outstanding individual performances were turned in by Abby Belinski (12th in both the 100 and 200 freestyle races), Samantha Kiel 14th in the 200 individual medley), Morgan Wimberly (17th in the 200 freestyle), Viviana Lu (17th in the 100 fly and 20th in the 100 backstroke), Caroline Guichard (18th in the 500 freestyle), and Emma Thorogood (18th in the 100 backstroke). In addition, the 400 freestyle relay team of Abby Belinski, Isabella Decker, Elizabeth Isakson, and Jasmin Hoffman placed 4th and the 200 medley relay team of Emma Thorogood, Caroline Guichard, Viviana Lu, and Anna Heisterberg finished 14.
For the boys, Keegan Ford and Will Taner recorded identical 7th place finishes in the 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke, respectively. Other top individual finishers included Andrew Cameron (11th in the 200 freestyle and 14th in the 500 freestyle), Nicholas Zhang (13th in the 200 individual medley and 23rd in the 100 freestyle), Matt Kiel (17th in both the 100 breaststroke and 500 freestyle), and Will Taner (19th in the 100 fly). The three relay teams finished strong as well with the 200 freestyle (Adrian Donkor, Keegan Ford, Nicholas Zhang, and Will Taner) and 400 freestyle (Nicholas Zhang, Keegan Ford, Connor Snow, and Andrew Cameron) both 9th and the 200 medley relay (Will Taner, Matt Kiel, Jace Thompson, and Adrian Donkor) 11th.
